Sinopse

The research that formed the basis of this study was developed with the purpose of analyzing the various interpretations of Drawing education in the Faculties of Architecture at the Technical University of Lisbon and the University of Porto, as well as the practices used to teach it. The temporal scope ranges from the creation and annexation of the aforementioned faculties to their respective universities (1979) and the start of this work (2005).
The fact that our professional activity is related to the teaching of Drawing in an institution linked to the training of architects, and the expectation that the knowledge obtained from such work could contribute to the improvement of the quality of education to which we are connected, were motivating and decisive reasons for its selection. The research initially focused on the historical path that led to the creation of the two selected Faculties of Architecture, then concentrating on the pedagogical activities conducted by Drawing teachers at those institutions. The work concludes with findings where some similarities and differences are identified in the ideas underlying the methodologies and teaching conceptions at each of these institutions.
