Sinopse
The design of the modern hospital arises from the interest and need to reconvert mercy hospital structures into true "healing machines." The large-scale projects by Poiet, Viel, Le Roy, etc., are strongly marked by the architectural debate of the time, especially the design methodologies proposed and developed by Boullée. The analogy with nature and the notion of the sublime applied to these large-scale buildings will reinforce the enduring character of these architectures. However, the participation of those projects in the formulation of adopted models will be minimal; this is because the evaluation of the project, or the appropriate tools for the production of models, will no longer be the drawing; the project now faces functional effectiveness, medical statistics, cost, etc., which are programmatically defined and directly influence the design methods.
