October 2024 | Marinha Grande

A field trip to Marinha Grande took place between October 28 and 29, 2024, within the scope of the Atelier de Projeto IA course of the Integrated Master's in Architecture, taught by Carlos Martins. The journey began at the Marinha Grande City Hall, followed by a visit to the former Stephens Factory, the exhibition 200 Years of the General Administration of the Kingdom's Forests, and the Glass Museum. The students also learned about the Municipal Archive’s storage and the now deactivated former Stephens Brothers School Factory. In São Pedro de Moel, they visited the Afonso Lopes Vieira House-Museum, passing through the Leiria Pine Forest, where the Ponto Novo watchtower, the Guarda Nova and Pedreanes neighborhoods, and the Parque do Engenho were the main highlights. Two working sessions were also held: the first on the Marinha Grande Glass Factory and the second on the proposed revision of the Municipal Master Plan (PDM).
