The Master's Degree in Geosciences (MGEOC) aims to train specialist masters in the essential fields of Geosciences, capable of responding to current and future national and international demands at the scientific, technical, social, and economic levels. The areas of study include, in addition to classic geosciences topics, others that contribute to the United Nations' objectives for sustainable development, such as environment, spatial planning, climate, and sustainable management of georesources. The MGEOC seeks to maintain a strong practical component and a strong connection to society.

  • Objectives: Acquire fundamental theoretical knowledge in different areas of Geosciences to conceptualize, structure and conduct a scientific or technical project and carry out a critical analysis of the results. Develop scientific thinking and methodology. Ability to gather information, systematize and interpret data in the laboratory and in the field, use specific analysis tools, use appropriate software. Organize and analyze data, synthesize and communicate effectively in Portuguese and English and in a way adapted to a target audience.
    Perform autonomous and team work. Develop decision-making skills, and to plan and manage work. Understand the language of other specialists, understand professional contexts and ethical and deontological standards of action, establish and respect performance goals in relationships with other professionals.
