Jason W. Moore, professor of world history at Binghamton University, where he coordinates the World-Ecology Research Collective, is a leading figure in contemporary environmental history, with extensive work on the relationship between the history of capitalism and the contemporary environmental crisis.

He is one of the main proponents of a new theoretical paradigm within world history that he calls “world ecology” and that seeks to go beyond old Nature-Society dualisms. One of his main theoretical contributions is the concept of Capitalocene, a term that places the contradictions inherent in the capitalist mode of production and its way of organizing nature at the center of the contemporary environmental crisis.

He is a very prolific writer and speaker, and his essays, interviews and lectures (in over 20 different languages) can be found on his personal website: https://jasonwmoore.com/
