From October 17th to 19th, the University of Coimbra will take part in the Diving Talks – International Diving Congress, held at the Cordoaria Nacional, Lisbon.

Often described as the “TED Talks of diving”, the event brings together explorers, researchers, filmmakers, and innovators to share experiences and insights about the ocean as a space of discovery, knowledge, and conservation.

The Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE) and the Department of Life Sciences (DCV), in collaboration with the University of Coimbra Campus in Figueira da Foz (CUCFF), will have an institutional presence, supported by TERRA Associate Laboratory and UC Blue.

Throughout the congress, the CFE team will present an interactive exhibition stand showcasing marine research, citizen science, and coastal ecosystem conservation. Filipe Martinho, researcher and professor at DCV, will deliver a Lightning Talk introducing the ongoing research and outreach initiatives of CFE and UC in the marine sciences field.

Diving Talks 2025 represents an important opportunity to highlight the University of Coimbra’s contribution to marine research and its commitment to ocean sustainability and scientific literacy.
