UC Faculty of Law Deputy Director, Prof. João Pinto Monteiro, strengthens academic ties in California
Prof. João Pinto Monteiro, the UC Faculty of Law Deputy Director for International Relations, was part of the UC delegation that visited the University of Santa Clara and the University of Berkeley on the 20th and 21st of last month with the mission of strengthening academic ties with these Californian institutions.
The delegation was led by the Vice-Rector for External Relations and Alumni, Prof. João Nuno Calvão da Silva, and also included Profs. Edmundo Monteiro (Dean of FCTUC) and Marília Curado (Director of the Computer Science and Systems Laboratory at the Pedro Nunes Institute), as well as Dr. Silvia Silva Dias (Head of the International Relations Division at UC).
This visit benefited greatly from the generous organisational efforts of the Consul General of Portugal in San Francisco, Dr Filipe Ramalheira, a UC Faculty of Law Alumnus, and included several working meetings at both universities, which, in the field of law, focused on joint research and the mobility of teachers and students.
Another highlight of the visit was the formalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Santa Clara, which will frame future cooperation programmes in the areas of Law and Science.
