Welcome to WISER Portugal
Welfare Intervention
by the State and Economic Resilience (WISER) in Portugal is a research project funded by COMPETE
2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union [POCI-01-0145-FEDER-029365]; and the
Fundação
para a Ciência e Tecnologia I.P./MCTES through
national funds (PIDDAC) [PTDC/EGE-ECO/29365/2017] that started in October 2018 and is due to end in October 2021.
The main aim of the
project is to assess if and how welfare intervention by the state in Portugal
can contribute to make the Portuguese economy more resilient to economic shocks
and structural change and in this way promote faster economic growth and higher
living standards for all and lead to a more inclusive society.
The project brings
together researchers and students from three different Portuguese higher
education and research institutions. The Centre for Business and Economics
Research (CeBER) located at the Faculty of Economics of the University of
Coimbra (FEUC) is the proponent institution and the project partners include
NIPE, University of Minho and the UECE, ISEG - UL.
The project is
coordinated by Marta Simões and Adelaide Duarte from CeBER.
