The main goal of the LC is to provide services mainly to the university community (teachers, students, staff members) but also to the general public, namely by offering lifelong training and linguistic support in its specific fields, such as the teaching, diffusion and promotion of languages and cultures.
Activities
1 - As part of its competences, the LC may develop the following activities:
a) organising short and medium-term foreign language courses, both general and specialized, targeted at audiences with specific interests;
b) organising short and medium-term courses of Portuguese as a foreign language, both general and specialized, targeted at audiences with specific interests;
c) organising short and medium-term courses of Portuguese as a native language, both general and specialized, targeted at audiences with specific interests;
d) organising open language courses;
e) organising foreign language placement tests, when requested by FLUC or by other faculties of the UC;
f) collaboration in initiatives promoted by the University of Coimbra or other entities bound to it by a protocol (organization of scientific meetings - congresses, colloquia, seminars or similar initiatives), depending on the availability of its staff members;
g) translation and proofreading of translations of all types of texts, tape and digital recordings. This service can be provided to official bodies, the academic community, private entities and the business world;
h) proofreading of Portuguese texts;
i) consultancy in the specific fields of its activities.
