World Arabic Language Day
Celebrations
On 18 December, in Amphitheatre III, the Centre for Arab Studies of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra will celebrate the Arabic Language Day, with a programme featuring special guests and a variety of multidisciplinary activities.

9.45: Opening session and inauguration of the Exhibition of Arabic Calligraphy and Books.
10.00: Arabisms in Portuguese by Abdeljelil Larbi.
10.45: Screening of the documentary History of Arabic Calligraphy by Rawasin.
11.00: The Mahjar and its Bridges: Arab Memories on Brazilian Soil by Alberto Sismondini.
11.45: Reading of poems and short texts in Arabic and Portuguese (by students and other readers).
14.00: Reflections of Culture in Spaces: From the Islamic City to the Christian City. The Case of the Portuguese Territory by Luísa Trindade
14:45: The Translation of Portuguese Literature and the Reception of its Books in the Arab World, a conversation with Afonso Cruz.
16:00: Speaking and Writing in Arabic: Greetings and Essential Phrases by Abdeljelil Larbi.
16:30: Arabic tea and sweets ceremony.
