The Human Library is based on a storytelling model, where there are no ‘books’, but rather people with real stories to share with those who want to hear them. Sharing their stories through conversations will promote dialogue with the aim of fostering rapprochement and breaking down barriers due to prejudice or stereotypes.
Inspired by the Human Library project, the Human Library is designed to create a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. The Human Library is a place where real people are ‘lent’ to readers. A place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered.
GeneT, together with the other CIBB centres, challenged their researchers to tell their stories, those of science and life. This is a time for communicating science, but essentially a space to tell the stories behind the science that each person does - their motivations, their journeys, their hobbies, their disappointments, among other things.
GeneT's representative will be Catarina Miranda. A lover of dance and gene therapy, she will share her two great loves with the public.
So, on 29 November from 5pm to 6pm at the Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto, the Human Library will take place in the house's artist residency and at the end the usual Friday Matinee will begin in the space, with a DJ and an informal atmosphere to continue conversations and socialise.
This event is organised as part of Science and Technology Week 2024, in collaboration with Coimbra Cooletiva and Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto.
