How to reach Coimbra

The airports nearer to Coimbra are located in Lisboa (190 km away) and in Porto (120 km away).

From Lisboa (Humberto Delgado) International Airport

By train: you will need to take the metro or to catch a taxi to Lisboa Oriente railway station; the journey should take approximately 10 minutes. Trains to Coimbra run every hour and you should expect the journey to take approximately 2 hours. All trains stop at Coimbra B.

By express bus: Express buses to Coimbra run aproximately every hour and you should expect the journey to take approximately 2 hours and a half.

From Porto (Francisco Sá Carneiro) International Airport

By train: from Porto airport you will need to travel to Gare dd Campanhã (the main train station in Porto). It is recommended that you travel to this station by taxi or metro. You will find taxis readily available at the front of the airport and the underground station as well. You should expect the journey to take approximately 30 minutes. Several trains run from Porto to Coimbra daily. You should expect the journey to take one hour and a half. All trains stop at Coimbra B.

How to reach the Department of Life Sciences

Once in Coimbra, there are several Bus lines to the University. You can purchade prepaid cards on SMTUC official selling points (about 70c per journey), or buy the ticket directly to the driver (about 2€ per journey):

Depending on the Bus number you take, the stop will be either:
right at the University, near the Faculty of Medicine. When you step out, walk to Largo D. Dinis (large roundabout with a statue in the middle) and then go down the street that has an aqueduct on your right. The Department of Life Sciences is the building next to the aqueduct.
