The 7th Edition of the “Seed Projects for Interdisciplinary Research” with the support of the Santander Portugal Foundation, promoted by the Strategic Areas Unit of the UC (NAE) in collaboration with the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (IIIUC), intends to support five interdisciplinary research projects, one in each of the Strategic Areas of the University of Coimbra.
Researchers integrated into R&D Units of the University of Coimbra who conduct research at the UC may apply for this funding. The project team must be made up entirely of UC members. The project team must include three to six researchers of the UC, including the Principal Investigator (PI), from at least two R&D Units of the UC in different scientific areas. The classification of UC R&D Units by scientific area can be consulted here. The PI, leading the project team, must have obtained his/her PhD after 1 October 2015.
With total funding of 100,000 euros, this call aims to support each winning proposal with a maximum of 20,000 euros.
In addition to the funding foreseen, UC will provide support and capacity building to the teams in the process of preparation and submission of applications, namely:
- Mapping of researchers in order to promote the interdisciplinarity of the project, via NAE;
- Support for the communication and dissemination of the funded project, via IIIUC;
- Support for the protection of intellectual property rights and commercial valorization, via UC Business.
