Between 19 and 22 May, the University of Coimbra hosted the largest Forum of the EC2U Alliance - European Campus of University Cities, bringing together more than 400 participants from various European universities to debate the sustainable future of communities.

Under the theme ‘Preparing Communities for a Sustainable Future’, the event marked the debut of the EC2U Forum in Portugal and reinforced the role of the UC in its commitment to the values of the European Union and sustainability.

The Forum was attended by students, researchers, teachers, mayors and other partners, in a programme with more than 40 activities taking place around the city, including panels, a mobility fair, work meetings and networking moments, promoting European cooperation around climate action and urban sustainability.

During the event, the University of Umeå (Sweden) was also announced as the latest member of the EC2U alliance, which now includes nine universities.

The event was organised by the UC, in partnership with the Coimbra Academic Association, Coimbra City Council and the Erasmus Student Network Coimbra.
