From May 5 to 9, 2025, students and faculty from the PhD Program Heritages of Portuguese Influence (III/UC) and Chair Patrimónios participated in an academic mission to the University of Cambridge, engaging in a series of collaborative activities.

In partnership with the Cambridge Heritage Research Centre, the PhD candidates had the opportunity to present and discuss their research during the Cambridge-Coimbra Workshop and the CHRC Annual Symposium. Centered around the theme (Re) Constructing Legacies and Pathways of Afterlives: Tracing, Uncovering, and Researching Legacies of the Past, the events fostered in-depth reflections on methodologies for understanding the legacies of the past and their relevance in the present.

The program also included guided visits to the university’s facilities and collections, including the African Legacies in Cambridge Museums tour organized by Uncomfortable Cambridge.

We extend our sincere thanks to the CHRC —especially Professor Dacia Viejo Rose —for the warm welcome, and we congratulate our students on their active participation!
