The end of September will be marked by two online events relevant to researchers and students interested in Open Science practices. On September 25 and 30, the OPERAS community will host webinars through its Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The topics are Artificial Intelligence and Open Access Books.

On the 25th, at 9h (Portugal time), there will be an online event to launch the OPERAS Special Interest Group (SIG) on Artificial Intelligence. At the event, the SIG coordinators will present the group's objectives, initial plans, and proposals for future activities. They will also outline the roadmap for the coming months, including the meeting schedule and scope of work, in order to provide a clear structure for the group's development. The goal is also to hear the perspectives and ideas of the participants. It is important to remember that UC members interested in joining the group are welcome. All OPERAS SIGs are open to participation by their members, and UC is a member of the infrastructure's Executive Assembly. Registration for the session must be done through this link.

On the 30th, at 11h, it will be the turn of the event organised by the OABN (Open Access Books Network) working group, which is part of the structure of the OPERAS Open Access Books SIG. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about how to publish an open access book (OA Book). The event will bring together researchers funded by the European Research Council (ERC) to talk about their experiences with publishing books in OA. Three researchers from different academic disciplines who have published books and series in Open Access will reflect on their experiences and the lessons they have learned. There will be ample time for questions from the audience. The event is organised by the Open Access Books Network (OABN) with the support of the ERC Executive Agency. Registration for the session is available at this link.

OPERAS Special Interest Groups work collaboratively, sharing information, observing and preparing projects on their topic. Each SIG works under the responsibility of a contact point, which in most cases is a core member of OPERAS. Each contact point brings together and coordinates the participants in their SIG.
