Discover Diamond journals: Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH) is officially launched
UC scientific journals are now available through UC Press, a trusted source on the platform.
Presented during the CRAFT‑OA 2025 conference, held in October 2025, and developed within the scope of the CRAFT-OA project, the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH) is one of the main services of the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH). It is a registry of Diamond Open Access journals that meet six operational criteria. The UC Press is already listed in the directory as a trusted source, contributing to the registration of scientific journals published by the University of Coimbra.
As a directory of Diamond scholarly journals that meet standard quality and operational requirements, the DDH aims to provide these journals with the visibility and recognition they deserve, making them easier to discover by authors, libraries and research institutions, as well as reinforcing their credibility and supporting the growth of a fairer and more sustainable scholarly publishing ecosystem.
By bringing together journals that embody principles of openness, equity and community governance, the DDH highlights the collective value of community‑driven open access. At launch, the DDH already lists more than 2,600 Diamond journals, making it easier to find and assess these publications.
To be included, journals are assessed against six key criteria:
- Persistent identification (e.g. ISSN)
- Scholarly journal
- Open Access with open licences
- No fees for authors
- Open to all authors
- Community‑owned
The geographical scope includes 44 countries across the European Research Area (ERA), ERAC observers and other countries associated with Horizon Europe. Learn more about the countries covered here.
