Open Access Books: PALOMERA project is highlighted in publication and new webinar
Results of UC-integrated project are featured in Inspiring ERA initiative
Concluded in December 2024, the PALOMERA project, integrated by the UC, was dedicated to understanding the landscape of Open Access policies for books in the European Research Area and produced recommendations based on various project studies. A few months after its conclusion, the project has seen its results disseminated in publications and events, which makes the work undertaken by the consortium even more useful and sustainable.
One of the recent publications highlighting PALOMERA comes from the Inspiring ERA initiative, a project dedicated to raising awareness, sharing best practices and speeding up the adoption of progress made within the European Research Area for the benefit of researchers and citizens in the countries involved.
The publication highlights the work carried out by the project consortium, coordinated by OAPEN and the OPERAS Research Infrastructure, and its main resources:
- The recommendations for open access books, aimed at different types of stakeholders;
 - The PALOMERA Knowledge Base, created as part of the project's data collection;
 - The Funders Forum (or Policy Forum), developed throughout the project;
 - The OA Books Toolkit, created by OAPEN and relaunched with updates made through the project.

| Webinar in April |
Disseminating important actions and resources for those interested in Open Access books, the Open Access Books Network (OABN) organises a webinar, to be held on April 9, focusing on three tools that focus on book policies - two of them are linked to PALOMERA. The tools to be presented are the OA Books Toolkit, which includes articles and resources on Open Access book policies tailored to policymakers and authors; the PALOMERA Knowledge Base, a comprehensive, multi-stakeholder database of Open Access book policies from across Europe; and the Jisc Open Policy Finder, which helps authors and institutions make informed and confident decisions about Open Access publishing and policy compliance.
Registration for the webinar should be made via this link.
