Joana Bértholo.

Joana Bértholo was born in Lisbon, in 1982. She holds a degree in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and a PhD in Cultural Studies from the European University Viadrina, in Germany. She published several novels, short story collections, and children's literature at Editorial Caminho. Ecologia, a novel published in 2018, was a semi-finalist for the 2019 Oceanos Prize, a finalist for the Prize for Novel and Novella of the Portuguese Association of Writers, a finalist for the DST Prize for Literature, and nominated for the 2019 Adamastor Prize for Portuguese Fantastic Literature. O Museu do Pensamento received the award for best children's book from the Portuguese Society of Authors in 2018. She received several other awards, including the Young Creators Award – Literature (Clube Português de Artes e Ideias, 2005) and the Maria Amália Vaz de Carvalho Award (CMLoures, 2009) for her first novel Diálogos para o Fim do Mundo (2010). She has published extensively, including O Meu Treinador (2023), Natureza Urbana (2023), A História de Roma (2022), Na Órbita do Sono (2021), Ecologia (2018), Inventário do Pó (2015), Efeito Kuleshov (2014), O Lago Avesso (2013), Havia (2012) and Diálogos para o Fim do Mundo (2010). She is also the author of children's books, including O Museu do Pensamento (2017) and Cavalo-Marinho (2021), and several works for the stage (theatre, performance, dramaturgy).
