Luís Filipe Sarmento.

Luís Filipe Sarmento was born on October 12, 1956. He studied Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. Writer, journalist, translator and filmmaker. He produced and directed the first videobook experience in Portugal for Acontece (RTP - Portuguese Radio Television), a television program in which he collaborated for several years. Author of more than three dozen books, including novels, journalism and essays, his writing focuses mainly on poetry. He has received numerous awards, both inside and outside Portugal, including the Ulisses Literary Prize (2021), the Cesar Vallejo International Prize (2021 & 2022), and the Clarice Lispector Literary Prize 2023. He has held several positions in the direction and coordination of several literary institutions, including International Coordinator of the World Organization of Poets (1994-1995), President of the Ibero-American Writers Association (1999-2000), and Member of the International Coordinating Committee of the World Poetry Movement (2018-2023). He was also a founder and member of the coordinating committee of Poets of the Planet, POP. His work has been translated into English, Spanish, French, Italian, Greek, Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese, Romanian, Serbian, Macedonian, Croatian, Turkish, Russian, Albanian and Swedish.
