Patrícia Portela.

Author of performances and literary writings, whose unique work moves between the stage and the book, sometimes in hybrid forms and genres. The recognition of her work is reflected in several awards, including the Theatre Critics Revelation Award (1998), the Madalena Azeredo de Perdigão Award/Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (for Flatland I in 2005), and the Teatro na Década Award (Wasteband, 2003). Author of several novels and novellas such as Para Cima e não para Norte (2008), Banquete (2012, short-listed for the APE Prize for Novel and Novella), A coleção privada de Acácio Nobre (2016), Dias úteis (2017), and Hífen (2021), among others. She participated in the 46th International Writers Program in Iowa City in 2013 at the University of Iowa and was their first Outreach Fellow. She was one of the 5 finalists of the first Media Art Sonae 2015 Award with the installation Parasomnia, she won the first literary fellow in Berlin sponsored by the Portuguese Embassy in Germany in 2016, and one of the first scholarship recipients of the new DGLAB literary scholarships. She teaches dramaturgy and image at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema and at the University of Minho, at Forum Dança, in Portugal, at the school of writing in Curitiba, Brazil, among others. She was briefly a columnist at Antena 1 in Fio da Meada (2019-2020) and she is a regular columnist for Jornal de Letras and Coffeepaste since 2017. A selection of her columns has been collected in the book Crónicas Fora de Jogo (2022). She is currently artistic director of Associação Cultural o Prado, of which she is a founding member, and was artistic director of the Teatro Viriato, in Viseu (2020-2022).
