Filipa Martins is a journalist, novelist and screenwriter. She is currently a PhD candidate in Portuguese Studies at the School of Social and Human Sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She received the Revelation Prize for Fiction, awarded by the Portuguese Writers Association (APE), with Elogio do Passeio Público (Guimarães Editores, 2008), her first novel. She also won the Young Creators Award from the Portuguese Club of Arts and Ideas with Esteira. She is the author of the novels Quanta Terra (Guimarães Editores, 2009), Mustang Branco (Quetzal Editores, 2014) and Na Memória dos Rouxinóis (Quetzal Editores, 2018). She was a finalist for the Sophia Awards of the Portuguese Cinema Academy in 2022, in the best original screenplay category, for Bem Bom (screenscript coauthored by Cucha Carvalheiro and Patrícia Sequeira). She was also a co-writer for the television series Três Mulheres (RTP, 2018). Over the last six years, she has dedicated herself to studying the life and work of Natália Correia. She is co-author of a documentary and co-writer of the television series Insubmissa (RTP, 2021) about this Azorean writer, and author of the biography O Dever de Deslumbrar (2023, Contraponto Editores).
