Visiting the Literary Tower, Vila Nova de Famalicão
On May 13, 2022, the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures organnized a study visit to the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, in Vila Nova de Famalicão. The aim was to get to know the artistic and literary heritage of the Foundation and present the research, teaching and creation activities developed at FLUC. This visit started a collaboration protocol between the two institutions, as pointed out by the Director of the Faculty of Letters and by the President of the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation.
In the morning, 60 students and 5 professors from the three study cycles had the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the permanent exhibition “Literary Tower: Praise and Simplification of Portuguese Literature” and the temporary exhibition at the Museum (“Rui Aguiar – Das Raízes Dispersas”). After exploring the collection, students of the Doctoral Programme in Materialities of Literature presented case studies related to their research projects and, in the afternoon, students of the Master in Creative Writing showed the works developed during the seminars, through readings, stagings and videos.
More than an opportunity to get to know the artistic and literary heritage of the Foundation, recognized for its collection and studies on Surrealism, this visit allowed FLUC to get closer to the community, expanding the frontiers of knowledge produced at the university beyond the academic setting. At the same time, the visit allowed for a closer relationship between students and professors of the different programmes, making the experience even richer and more inclusive.
