Petition submitted by José Maria de Eça de Queirós to be admitted to the Logic exam
On the back of this petition is a certificate for the exams taken on 5 October 1858. The listed subjects include Rational and Moral Philosophy (also referred to as Logic) and the exam in Principles of Natural Law, all completed at the Liceu de Coimbra (secondary school).
Eça de Queirós* first enrolled at the University of Coimbra as a first-year law student on 14 October 1861, and was required to submit exam certificates for subjects taken in high school (Liceu), such as those mentioned above. He also provided certificates for exams in Natural History, French, Geometry, Rhetoric, and Latin. He completed his Law degree on 22 June 1866.
*José Maria de Eça de Queirós (1845–1900) was a Portuguese writer and diplomat, considered one of the greatest literary figures of the 19th century.
