The Revolutionary Map

This is the original map, with handwritten annotations, on which Major Captain Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, commander of the MFA operations, plotted the routes of the revolution.

The map was used to plan the movements of insurgents from across the country to Lisbon and belonged to Otelo himself.

I have been a member of the club since 1958, and as I received it every year, I brought it along with other documents to the Pontinha Command Post on 24 April 1974. I chose the ACP map because it was reliable, had a size that made consultation easy, and allowed me to quickly determine the distances travelled and the times taken by the military columns. This way, I could better track the movements, marking them with pins to monitor whether the objectives were being met.
