The Societies and Environmental Sustainability research group was present at the 5th World Symposium on Sustainability Science and Research, which brought together around one hundred researchers from 23 countries today in Lisbon!

  • Dates: 26 and 27 May 202
  • Location: Universidade Aberta, Lisbon
  • Theme: "The Transition of Sustainability and Global Citizenship in the Digital Age"

This international gathering, held at the Universidade Aberta (Rua Almirante Barroso) and Liceu Camões, aimed to foster the exchange of innovative practices within higher education institutions to advance sustainability and global citizenship.

Our group was physically represented by Fátima Alves, Diogo Guedes Vidal and Ana Mendonça, who contributed with two oral communications and one poster, reflecting our ongoing commitment to the production of critical and transformative knowledge:

  • Building Global Citizenships and Governance for SDGs: integrating contributions of regional and local contexts
    • Ana Mendonça and Fátima Alves
  • When Urgency Feels Distant: The Paradox of Social Perceptions of Climate Change Among Social Sciences and Humanities Researchers
    • Fátima Alves, Diogo Guedes Vidal and Maria Fernanda Rollo
  • Voices Seeking to Be Heard: Rethinking Nature's Role in Deliberative Processes for an Ecological Democracy
    • Diogo Guedes Vidal and Fátima Alves

A contribution towards an academia more engaged with global challenges and with the voices that build sustainable alternatives from the ground up!
