The new book "Composing Worlds: Humanities, Health and Wellbeing in the XXI Century Towards a More Sustainable World" is now available, published by Springer as part of the World Sustainability Series.

The volume stems from the International Virtual Symposium on Humanities, Environment, Health and Well-Being, organised by the Composing Worlds Network and held in 2024. It brings together contributions that explore how the humanities, social sciences, and health sciences can collaborate in addressing the significant challenges of the Anthropocene, including climate change and environmental degradation, public health threats, and the collective crisis of imagination.

The edition features the contribution of researcher Diogo Guedes Vidal, from the Societies and Environmental Sustainability Research Group at the Centre for Functional Ecology – Science for People & the Planet, Terra Associated Laboratory of the University of Coimbra, and its Extension at the Open University of Portugal. The book advocates for an integrative approach that values the cultural, ethical, and epistemological dimensions of sustainability. Topics include eco-anxiety, urban green spaces and wellbeing, citizen science, the role of art and literature, and intergenerational justice.
