I. The performance of other duties, whether public or private, requires the authorization of the Rector and the opinion of the employee's hierarchical superior. The director of the department/centre (if applicable) and the director of the OU/UECAF, if different, must also provide their opinions. If the claimant is a grant holder, they must include the opinion of the scientific supervisor.
II. A favourable opinion can only be issued if the following conditions are met:
- The claimant is not placed in a situation where their interests conflict with those they must uphold as an employee of the University of Coimbra;
- The functions to be carried out are not considered to compete with those carried out by the University of Coimbra;
- The duties to be performed do not interfere with the working hours of the University of Coimbra, per applicable laws and regulations.
III. Outside activities may only commence upon authorization by the Rector.
IV. When the remuneration resulting from the outside activity is processed by the University of Coimbra, either due to legal or regulatory obligations or at the claimant's request, overheads and other unmentioned legal deductions will be withheld.
