Health + Science: Call for Exploratory Research Projects 2025 | Deadline: 22 Jul. 2025

Applications are now open for the 2025 Call for Exploratory Projects under the Saúde + Ciência (Health + Science) programme, promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS).

This Call is part of the Health + Science scientific research incentive programme, which aims to foster cooperation between higher education institutions, research centres and entities under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.

The initiative aims to support innovative ideas and relevant scientific questions by funding Scientific Research and Technological Development (IC&DT) projects, with the potential to foster technological and organisational innovation, improve the efficiency of health systems, and place citizens at the centre of care, promoting a more sustainable and human-centred healthcare model.

Proposals must fall within one of the following thematic areas: Access to Health, Active Ageing or Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Selected proposals must demonstrate their potential to transform healthcare, promoting quality, accessibility and citizen satisfaction.

Applications submitted must involve two or more beneficiaries, including at least one non-business entity from the R&I system (such as higher education institutions, state laboratories and private non-profit R&D institutions) and one non-academic entity supervised by the member of the Government responsible for health.

The maximum funding per project is 50,000€.

The application submission period ends on 22 July 2025 at 17h00 (Lisbon time).
