Pollinators play a fundamental role in plant reproduction and in maintaining plant communities. This talk, organised by the Broteriana Society and presented by researcher João Loureiro, will cover a range of monitoring methodologies using citizen science to assess the diversity and abundance of pollinators. The talk will highlight the importance of citizen science in pollinator conservation, with reference to the FITCount initiative and the ‘PolinizAÇÃO’ project at iNaturalist. Come and find out how scientists and citizens can work together to obtain crucial information to protect not only these organisms, but also the plants that depend on them!

The talk will also be broadcast online for those who don't have the opportunity to travel to Coimbra.
