Goals

The United Nations Agenda for 2030 is a broad and ambitious agenda that addresses various dimensions of sustainable development (social, economic and environmental) and that promotes peace, justice and efficient institutions.

It is a universal agenda, based on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 goals to be implemented by all countries, and which presupposes the integration of the SDGs in the policies, processes and actions developed at national, regional and global levels.

The University of Coimbra is strongly committed to the 2030 Agenda, aware of the contribution it can make as a higher education institution to change behaviours and thus contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future.

In line with the 2019-2023 Strategic Plan, the UC intends to be an increasingly qualified university to build the future in a sustainable and socially responsible way. Aligned with and co-responsible for a more just, equitably developed society that respects environmental sustainability, the Strategic Plan is an absolutely essential support also with regard to the monitoring of the SDGs.

In this context, we highlight some goals of the 2019-2023 Strategic Plan and their evolution.
