Healthy Campus UC

The University of Coimbra is one of the first universities worldwide to get the Healthy Campus certification from the International University Sports Federation. The Healthy Campus World Certification programme aims to implement a healthy lifestyle among the academic community, enhancing operational programmes in the areas of sport and physical activity that simultaneously influence areas such as mental and social health, nutrition, disease prevention, risk and environmental behaviour, sustainability and social responsibility.

In order to obtain the Healthy Campus World Certification, higher education institutions are evaluated in two-year cycles. The first cycle consists of a self-assessment, while the second is based on a local audit. After an assessment of the campi according to five performance levels, there is the attribution of the Quality Label (FISU Healthy Campus Label), which certifies the level of excellence of the campus evaluated in the different dimensions under analysis.

The Healthy Campus UC programme is guided by the 2020-2022 Strategic and Action Plan, which outlines the strategic actions to be developed, the definition of how these actions will be implemented and the monitoring and evaluation of the results, to enable the adoption of the changes deemed necessary.
