The Academic Association of Coimbra, which has more than 130 years of history, is the oldest student association in Portugal. It is one of the most emblematic and eclectic academic associations in the country, with more than 70 structures in its constitution. Its defence of the more than 25,000 UC students it represents involves not only political activities, but also sports, culture and civic intervention. Through an annual programme contract, the UC supports the Coimbra Academic Association by funding projects of a diverse scope, with the aim of enriching extracurricular activities and strengthening the academy.

The Office for Auditing and Prevention of Management Risks is a technical support and advisory structure to the Rector and the Management Board, created with the aim of promoting internal control by carrying out internal audits, with a view to identifying situations that could lead to management risks, corruption and related infractions, as well as presenting proposals for preventive measures to eliminate these risks or minimise the likelihood of their occurrence, adopting a pedagogical approach in its work.

The University of Coimbra provides an electronic platform for submitting complaints, the "ComplaintChannel" platform, where it is also possible for the complainant to access information on the status of the complaint, simply by entering the code obtained when submitting it on the same platform.

The Student Ombudsman, an organ of the University, plays an important role in raising awareness among students of their right to receive a quality, efficient and respectful public service and also in encouraging them to participate in improving that service through their personal commitment and critical capacity.
