The University of Coimbra (UC) has launched the fifth edition of the Initiative for the Promotion of Scientific Culture, coordinated by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (IIIUC).

Applications are open until the 23rd of June 2025 and will support science communication activities that are both interdisciplinary and culturally engaged, aimed at sharing the knowledge produced at the UC with broader and more diverse audiences.

This year's edition will fund up to five projects that encourage dialogue between science and culture, reaching out to audiences beyond strictly academic or scientific contexts. Each selected project may receive up to €3,000 in funding.

Eligible proposals must be original and interdisciplinary, and be led by teams comprising researchers from at least two different Research and Development (R&D) units within the UC group, from different scientific fields.

Teams should include PhD students from the University of Coimbra and align with the principles outlined in the UC Plan for Equality, Equity, and Diversity 2019–2024, particularly concerning gender equality and diversity.
