On the 15th of February at 9.30 pm, Convento São Francisco will host the show '100PAREDES' to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Carlos Paredes.

Under the artistic and musical direction of André Varandas and Bruno Costa, the show will feature an orchestra and choir conducted by Maestro Artur Pinho Maria, with exclusive arrangements by Brazilian composer Rodrigo Morte. This multidisciplinary production, inspired by the work of Carlos Paredes, will showcase iconic pieces performed by Bruno Costa on the Portuguese guitar. The show also involves various artists and artistic groups from the Coimbra region, with around 200 participants in a community orchestra, community choir, theatre, dance and other performing arts.

100PAREDES is an initiative to celebrate the centenary of Carlos Paredes's birth, jointly organised by the University of Coimbra and the Municipality of Coimbra. It will run throughout 2025, with over 80 national and international events planned—including exhibitions, lectures, concerts, documentaries, and performances—this extensive programme, created in Coimbra, aims to celebrate the life and work of Carlos Paredes both in Portugal and worldwide.

100PAREDES is also part of the commemorative series "Variations for Carlos Paredes" - the official programme for the centenary of the birth of Carlos Paredes - developed through a partnership between the Ministry of Culture and the Lisbon City Council, represented by Lisboa Cultura/EGEAC. The full programme will be available soon.
