IIIUC hosts 5th meeting of PhD students
The Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra (IIIUC) brings together its doctoral students every year to share experiences, foster networking, and explore interdisciplinary collaboration.
On 7 November, IIIUC held the event reUniii | 5th Gathering iiiUC, bringing together PhD students from all its doctoral programmes. The event encourages communication, exchange of ideas, and networking across different research areas.
During the opening session, IIIUC Deputy Director Marta Oliveira presented the institute’s nine doctoral programmes and non-degree courses, highlighting recent approvals by the Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES). She also outlined transversal training, doctoral schools, courses, and workshops available to all UC doctoral students.
Executive Coordinator Jorge Noro showcased ongoing projects at IIIUC, emphasising the value of students’ suggestions and contributions to the institute.
This year’s meeting included a panel of nine academic and non-academic stakeholders from public and private sectors to introduce doctoral students to alternative career paths. In the session “Students@Bodies”, doctoral students participating in the Pedagogical Council, the Senate, the Ethics Committee, and Self-Assessment Committees shared their experiences.
The programme also featured networking sessions, poster presentations, and a peddy paper.
Since its creation in 2001, IIIUC has welcomed students from over 50 nationalities, fostering a vibrant international research community.
