InnoNext, an initiative supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC), is now open to the EIT Health community, including the University of Coimbra. It offers fully funded, innovative internships that connect researchers and high-potential young talent with start-ups and SMEs across Europe, and aims to accelerate innovation, support start-up growth and increase the impact of research across multiple sectors by bridging academic excellence with entrepreneurial ambition. The talent programme is open to EIT-labelled Master's and doctoral students and, as well as EIT Health Community members and participants from other postdoctoral training programmes.

These internships are particularly aimed at those involved in leading programmes such as EIC, EIT, ERC, MSCA, and Horizon Europe Research Infrastructures.

Start-ups and SMEs that are backed by the EIT Community and have emerged from EIT-supported business creation services, or that have participated in innovation activities with any of the Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), are also eligible to apply. InnoNext provides participants with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to real-world market challenges and gain valuable professional and entrepreneurial experience. In addition to networking opportunities, interns receive financial support throughout their fully funded placement, which typically lasts between three and six months.

The programme offers access to highly skilled research talent at no financial cost. Using the AI-driven matching system on the InnoNext platform, companies can identify candidates aligned with their innovation needs and gain new perspectives to support product development and business growth.
