International Fair of Minerals, Gems and Fossils celebrates its 30th edition
The UC annual event takes place this year from 29 November to 1 December.
The International Fair of Minerals, Gems and Fossils will be held from 29 November to 1 December at the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra, celebrating its 30th edition. The event is organised by the Department of Earth Sciences (DCT) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FCTUC) of the University of Coimbra. The event is free, and celebrates our planet's geodiversity.
This year's edition pays tribute to the team that set up the first fair 30 years ago.
Nearly two dozen exhibitors from various countries will showcase a wide range of items, including gemstones, crystals and an impressive collection of fossils. These fossils provide a window into the different ages and environments of Earth's history, showing the evolution of organisms from dinosaurs and prehistoric reptiles to fossil fish, trilobites, ammonites, giant ferns and even insects preserved in amber.
This edition is co-sponsored by the Institute of Environment, Technology and Life (IATV), the Science Museum, the FCTUC and its Student Centre.
