Nursing School of Coimbra becomes part of the University of Coimbra

The amendment to the Statutes of the University of Coimbra, which will come into force on 1 April 2025, establishes the Nursing School of Coimbra as an organic teaching and research unit within the UC, making it the first unit with a polytechnic education model.

"This is a special day as it marks the realisation of a long-held ambition spanning at least two decades. It has been a long and challenging process during which the two institutions have strengthened their links, with the Doctorate in Nursing - which has been offered in partnership for the past three years and for which demand has exceeded the number of places available - perhaps the most prominent example," says UC Rector Amílcar Falcão.

From the next academic year, the teaching component of the Nursing School of Coimbra will be integrated into the educational offer of the University of Coimbra. The full integration, including administrative and financial matters, will be completed by the end of this calendar year.
