The University of Coimbra (UC) is stepping up its support for the Associação Académica de Coimbra (Coimbra Students’ Union -AAC) with a €270,000 grant to back around 40 projects spanning sport, culture, artistic and cultural expression, social responsibility, the promotion of both UC and AAC, as well as AAC basic operational costs.

The renewed funding agreement, signed on Wednesday, 9 July by UC Rector Amílcar Falcão and AAC President Carlos Magalhães, represents a 2% increase over last year's budget and strengthens the university's commitment to student life and extracurricular excellence.

In 2024, UC allocated €265,000 to AAC, an increase of 14% compared to previous years. This year's increase continues the trend of investing in projects that promote the university's values and enhance the student experience.

“AAC is a key partner for the University of Coimbra, playing a vital role in attracting, welcoming and supporting our students through extracurricular civic, cultural and sporting activities that enrich our academic community. This programme has received another boost this year, further strengthening our partnership,” said UC Rector Amílcar Falcão.

“The close bond between UC and AAC will always be the foundation that keeps both institutions at the forefront as drivers of regional progress,” said Carlos Magalhães, President of AAC’s Directorate-General.
