The Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR) of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC), Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), in collaboration with the Municipality of Guimarães, is hosting the Municipal Capacity-Building Day this Friday, 20 December, at the Laboratório da Paisagem [Landscape Laboratory] in Guimarães.

This initiative, part of the OwnYourSECAP project (funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme), aims to empower municipalities and stakeholders to implement Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) while promoting the exchange of best practices in energy management and climate action.

During the event, participants will be able to attend five interactive workshops on strategic issues for municipalities: 'Moving towards energy efficiency', 'Energy at the heart of local strategy', 'Turning plans into action', 'Engaging stakeholders' and 'Carbon neutrality: from theory to practice'.

The workshops are promoted by RdA Climate Solutions, ADENE (to be confirmed), the City of Guimarães, the Laboratório da Paisagem de Guimarães and the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG).

According to Fernando Martins, ISR researcher and event coordinator, "This day represents a unique opportunity for municipalities to share experiences, strengthen partnerships, and find practical solutions to the energy and climate challenges they face."

In addition to encouraging the active involvement of local authorities in implementing their SECAPs, the event reinforces the commitment of the city of Guimarães and the OwnYourSECAP project to sustainability and carbon neutrality.

Participation in the event is free of charge but requires prior registration due to the limited number of places available. Interested parties can register here. More information about the project is available here.
