University of Coimbra: “the Right Path to Follow”
Enrolment begins on Monday, 25 August, and runs until 28 August, both online and in person at the University of Coimbra Student Hub.
Mariana Silva is starting her childhood dream today: studying at the University of Coimbra (UC). “My sister studied here, and I used to come with her when I was a kid and loved it,” she recalls. “A friend and I always said we would come here together, and now it has finally happened.” She has enrolled on her first choice, Educational Sciences.
After spending a year studying medicine in Lisbon, Duarte Domingues has returned 'home' to the place where he has always wanted to study. “I grew up in the city centre and am very familiar with the academic tradition, but I also chose the University of Coimbra (UC) for its prestige and centuries of history,” he emphasises.
Dozens of UC students have volunteered to help new students with every step of the enrolment process.
The Rector of the University of Coimbra welcomed the new students. “Studying and living in Coimbra is a unique experience,” says Amílcar Falcão. 'We believe that, in this unique environment, which brings together students and researchers from over 100 different countries, you will feel at home,' he adds in a message to the newly arrived students. ‘Your success will be our success!’ he assures them.
Enrolment can be completed remotely or in person at the Student Hub until Thursday, 28 August.
Há dezenas de estudantes da UC que se voluntariaram para auxiliar os novos colegas em todos os passos da matrícula. Tiago Silva, aluno do 2.º ano do curso de Jornalismo e Comunicação da Faculdade de Letras da UC, está a "ajudar na construção deste primeiro semestre, a escolher cadeiras para as quais os futuros estudantes estão mais inclinados". Decidiu ser voluntário porque ele próprio fez a matrícula presencialmente, “e acho que foi um processo fundamental para a minha integração na Faculdade de Letras”, considera. “Tem todo o sentido para mim participar nesta iniciativa, já que foi tao útil para mim, também pode ser útil para os futuros colegas”, destaca.
O Reitor da Universidade de Coimbra deu as boas-vindas aos novos estudantes. "Estudar e viver em Coimbra é uma experiência única", garante Amílcar Falcão. "Acreditamos que, neste ambiente único, que junta estudantes e investigadores de mais de 100 nacionalidades, te vais sentir em casa", afirma o Reitor da UC, numa mensagem dirigida aos estudantes recém-chegados. "O teu sucesso será o nosso sucesso!", assegura.
As matrículas podem também ser feitas à distância, em formato online, ou presencialmente no Student Hub, até quinta-feira, 28 de agosto.
