University of Coimbra to host global event on pressing health challenges
As part of the 2025 World Health Summit, the University of Coimbra will host a satellite event from 12 to 14 October, featuring a series of open debates.
In October 2025, the University of Coimbra (UC) will host a satellite event of the World Health Summit (WHS), held annually in Berlin. Taking place from 12 to 14 October, the event will reinforce the university's position as a leading international think tank and action hub in the field of global health.
By bringing this major event to Portugal, UC is opening up access to debates, panel discussions and activities that address important issues such as equitable access to healthcare, biomedical innovation, sustainable health systems and international cooperation. This year's summit theme — 'Taking Responsibility for Health in a Fragmenting World' — underpins the programme, to be announced soon.
The event is organised by the Coimbra Health Consortium, founded in 2015, which brings together the University of Coimbra and the Coimbra Local Health Unit.
Since its establishment, the consortium has worked to encourage better cooperation between institutions in the areas of health, science, and innovation. Its affiliation with the WHS Academic Alliance, a network of 30 leading academic and clinical institutions worldwide, demonstrates the prestige and global reach of this initiative.
