Coached by Vasco Vaz, Director of the Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra (FCDEFUC), the Portuguese Under-19 National Rink Hockey Team delivered an outstanding performance, being crowned European champions following a 5-2 victory over neighbouring Spain, having remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.

Portugal is now a three-time European Under-19 rink hockey champion. The achievement highlights the team’s exceptional technical and tactical skills, as well as the leadership of coach Vasco Vaz, who also guided them to a silver medal at last year’s World Championship.

The team also received support from the Integrated Laboratory at FCDEFUC, where assessments and monitoring over the past month helped ensure their outstanding performance. Key members of the evaluation and training team included FCDEFUC faculty Amândio Santos and Joel Barreras Diaz, alongside master’s student João Canoso.
