Entre os dias 3 e 5 de Outubro de 2013, o Grupo de Estudos Multidisciplinares em Arte do Centro de Estudos Arqueológicos das Universidades de Coimbra e Porto (CEAUCP) organiza o colóquio subordinado ao tema O Corpo através da Imagem. 

Com este colóquio reúnem-se e debatem-se ideias, experiências e expectativas que presidem à investigação sobre um caso que convoca sempre a transversalidade de saberes: o corpo. 

As comunicações e workshops estruturar-se-ão em torno de quatro painéis temáticos fundamentais: 
1. Corpo: realidade(s) e utopia(s) 
2. Entre deuses e demónios 
3. Uma teologia para o corpo 
4. As arquitecturas do corpo 

Os objectivos fundamentais deste colóquio são: 
Estimular a produzir conhecimento novo sobre a história do corpo, partindo das suas representações. 
Divulgar uma estrutura transversal de elementos que possa estimular leituras renovadas sobre as figurações corporais, traduzindo um conjunto de problemáticas e sentidos interculturais que importam à história do Homem.

The Body through Image is a colloquium organized by the Multidisciplinary Art Studies Group of the Centre for Archaeological Studies of the Universities of Coimbra and Porto, between 3rd and 5th October 2013. 

This colloquium aims at the gathering and debate for different ideas, experiences, and expectations on the body as a transversal research theme. 

The focus on the body as a central theme will hopefully allow us to use works of art and similar data as clues to the comprehension of humanity’s own path. Thus, departing from the depictions of the body, re-analyzed through different possibilities, it will be possible to define a complex network of data, and face the dynamics that lead us to the very history of Man. 

The conferences and workshops will follow four main thematic strands: 
1. Body: realities and utopias 
2. Among gods and demons 
3. A theology for the body 
4. The architectures of the body 

This colloquium’s main goals are: 
To open a new perspective on the history of the body, having as a starting point its own depictions through art. 
To implement an interdiciplinary structure capable of proposing renewed points of view on the problematics of corporal figuration, and further translating them in a set of intercultural data relevant to the History of Man.
