Inauguration ceremony of CeBER's new facilities
University of Coimbra inaugurates CeBER facilities
The inauguration of the facilities of the Center for Research in Economics and Management (CeBER) of the University of Coimbra (UC) will take place next Monday, the 17th, at 12 noon. The new space, located in the main building of the UC Geophysical Institute, on Avenida Doutor Dias da Silva, aims to contribute to the growth of this research center at the University of Coimbra.
The UC invested more than 450,000 euros in renovating the main building of the Geophysics Institute to house CeBER. The intervention consisted of carrying out works to preserve and improve the building: interior and façade alterations were made in order to create conditions for the installation of CeBER, introducing all the necessary infrastructures for the proper use of the space (energy, water and sewage, computer network and air conditioning), while always respecting the original construction of the building, which was built in 1860 and has a gross area of 390m2.
Four research offices, a training room, a meeting room and offices for management and administrative services have been created, complemented by rest areas, a pantry and sanitary facilities, including a cabin accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Created in 2016, the Centre for Business and Economics Research's core mission is to carry out scientific and applied research activities in the areas of Economics and Management, as well as multidisciplinary cooperation, training researchers, disseminating scientific culture and providing services to the community. With the increase in CeBER's activity, which has been carried out in the premises of the UC Faculty of Economics since its creation, it was necessary to find a new space to house the team and promote its growth.
The inauguration ceremony will include speeches by the UC Vice-Rector for Heritage, Buildings and Tourism, Alfredo Dias; the CeBER Director, Luís Dias; the Director of the UC Faculty of Economics, José Manuel Mendes; and the UC Rector, Amílcar Falcão.
