About
At the Earth Observation Laboratory (EOLab), our mission is clear: to empower sustainable development through the provision of up-to-date, easily and readily accessible Earth Observation data at the right scale. At the core of our mission is addressing critical societal challenges, with a specific focus on land surface-atmosphere interactions and water resources.
We turn diverse data sources into actionable insights for public and private entities. Combining technology with a deep understanding of societal challenges, we've built a global network on four continents. FAIR and Open Science principles guide us for transparent, innovative Earth science. We're dedicated to promoting diversity within our field, recognizing that a variety of perspectives leads to more comprehensive solutions.
The eoLab is a joint venture of the Centre for Earth and Space Research (CITEUC) and the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Coimbra.
Working with society
The eoLab believes that working with society is a key component of our job. By interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders, we learn more about the real needs and requirements. These needs and requirements can then be translated into products and services with real societal impact. We are developing projects across 4 continents and have contributed to the training of over 500 people in 45+ countries in the last 2 years. Through the development of a variety of programs, implemented in collaboration with key partners, we have reached a broad and diverse community of users of remote sensing data.
Organizations may ask for our assistance to develop customized programs for the full product life cycle, from product definition to model development and user training.
