COMPASS
Compassionate Approach to Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorder
Researcher(s)
COMPASS is a compassion-based group intervention for early psychosis (diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizoaffective or schizophreniform disorders in the critical period without moderate-severe cognitive impairment or severe psychotic symptomatology).
Its development was based on the theoretical model of Compassion-focused Therapy, research on self-compassion, adaptations of mindfulness for psychosis and studies on loving-kindness meditation.
COMPASS comprises 12 two-hour group sessions and the groups evolve through three phases: Group as a safe place, Activating the soothing system and developing compassionate relationships and Recovery.
