Aim
Shedding light on a mechanism not yet disclosed in humans and establish the relative neurovascular coupling (NVC) effect in the brain and retina to allow comparing independent studies in each of these organs. The project encompasses application of adaptive optics (AO) for ocular fundus imaging, hardware development to produce visual flicker stimuli, gathering and processing data from four distinct modalities (OCT, OCTA, AO and fMRI-BOLD), and integration towards finding a direct or brain mediated cross-talk mechanism between eyes, and establishment of the relative strength of the NVC in the retina and brain.
