OCT4BRAIN

Non-invasive optical coherence tomography towards the imaging of the neurodegenerative disease: from the animal retina to the human brain.

AIM

Texture analysis of the ocular fundus imaging using a non-invasive imaging technique, optical coherence tomography (OCT), may provide new insights into the pathophysiology of the neurodegenerative disease. In this project, animals models of the healthy ageing and animal models of the Alzheimer's disease (AD) will be used to inform on the early changes as imaged by OCT before any structural damages can be detected. Texture based biomarkers found from the animal retina, for the healthy ageing and AD onset/progression, will be tested on human data to establish the link and the very early signs of disease onset.
